Mission

Kamp Love exists to transform student’s lives by the gospel through camping, connection, community & Christ.

In Camping, we find communion with God by adventuring out into His creation to seek refuge and retreat in Him.

In Connection, we look outside of ourselves to one another; seeking to build meaningful relationships through extending a hand of divine invitation, welcoming friends and strangers alike.

In Community, we give of ourselves to one another in deep and meaningful relationship, building on earth as it is in heaven as a family in Christ.

In Christ, we have everything we could ever need. He is our Lord & Savior, and He is the cornerstone of our lives. He is who saves us, frees us, heals us and sends us into a life of making disciples who make disciples.

Vision

We see a world where students on every college campus in the world are equipped in their supernatural gifts and passions—to make disciples who make disciples and reach the world for Christ. Driven by our insatiable desire to see “on earth as it is in heaven” become a reality, we aim to use the vehicle of Kamp Love to equip the saints to reach the lost and live passionate lives in the way of Jesus.

Accountable and deeply connected to the local church, Kamp Love does not exist to serve student’s as the local church. As each Kamp is planted, we are intentional to connect with local church leaders and have them serve alongside us in the discipling of students post-Kamp.

Model

Fall Semester: 24 hour camping trip

Spring Semester: Full weekend retreat

Year-round student leader development: We are student led campus organization, on purpose. We want to see a move of God both in and through students on college campuses across the world. By training up student leaders to do the work of ministry, we are training up the next generation of Christian leaders in the church and the marketplace.

History

Kamp Love started as a friend group camping trip at Grand Canyon University, fittingly titled “Camp Lope”. The purpose of the trip was to get out of Phoenix, into creation, and into connection with other students to share the good news of Jesus and create authentic community.

Jarod Lovekamp was a student at GCU who was instrumental in the growth and building of Camp Lope. On September 29, 2020, Jarod unexpectedly went to be home with the Lord. To honor Jarod and the life he lived for the gospel, Camp Lope was renamed Kamp Love.

God shared His heart with Jarod’s friends to “dream big” for what Kamp Love might become. Within a month, Kamp Love became an official nonprofit and has plans to be a college ministry that transforms students’ lives all over the country.
